Question by عاکفه: How does one get into freelance translation work?
I want to do some translating. For example, I would like to translate The China Study into French.Could I just propose that to an editor or what?I have a degree in linguistics and did some literary translation, but am not a specialist.Mmm… I’ve got better things to do than a masters in translation.

If you’re not a specialist, then you’ll find it pretty hard to find any proper work, especially freelance as they’ll be expecting good stuff. If you want a proper career out of it, you’ll need a degree or masters in translation to show you can actually do it.
