Surrey, UK (EST): Peter Newmark, Professor of Translation, died on 12 July 2011 at the age of 95. Professor Newmark was one of the chief figures in the founding of Translation Studies in the English-talking world from the 1980s. He is wide read through a series of approachable and occasionally polemic works, the titles of which are as square as the man himself: A Textbook of Translation (1988), Paragraphs on Translation (1989), About Translation (1991), More Paragraphs on Translation (1998).
