Question by Paul W: What is the better language to have to be an employable IT developer?
I am currently learning Java. Is this a good language to help make me employable? I would like to be a web programmer in particular.

Java is a good language to start with as it is quite simple to get to grips with. However few web pages are designed using java, so you may be better off learning a scripting language such as PHP and a .NET language such as C# or Visual Basic. All of these are in widespread use for web development. Fortunately, most of the skills and techniques you learn in Java can be ported across to .NET without much difficulty. For more general IT skills you may well be required to know C and C++, but for web development this is unlikely.
