Question by Arthur: What is the most exact translation of the Tanakh/Old Testament?
I’m looking for a translation of the Tanakh that is geared toward Jews and is highly accurate to the original text. What I have in mind is the Jewish equivalent of the New Revised Standard Version of the Christian Bible. It would be especially helpful if the translation has been published in a “study Bible” edition, with annotations and essays. However, that is not required as long as the translation is good.

Answer by Daniel ben Mordechai
One version that you might want to consider would be the Artscroll Tanakh (the Stone edition), published by Mesorah Publications, Ltd., edited by Rabbi Nosson Scherman. There are footnotes in it about select themes in the actual text.
